Focusing on disability-inclusive livelihoods and what works best to support people with disabilities. I really loved working together with the combined Humanity & Inclusion, London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine and MYT team to deliver the 2 day conference programme on such an important topic.
The event was hosted by the Disability Evidence Portal and International Centre for Evidence in Disability at London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine (LSHTM) and SOURCE at Humanity & Inclusion. With contributions from the International Disability Alliance (IDA) and Action on Disability and Development International (ADD) amongst others. The two-day event covered two themes of ‘Participation and Inclusion’ and ‘Employment Outcomes’ in the area of inclusive livelihoods and employment with speakers from the world of research, NGOs and Business. The recordings are available via the LSHTM website.
Once again we ensured that our event was as accessible as possible, providing sign interpretation and closed captioning throughout, also encouraging our speakers and attendees to use plain language without jargon. Again I can really see the huge benefits of virtual events, we are able to reach an international and far wider audience, providing a welcoming forum, giving space for new voices to share their personal experiences, to connect and build new collaborations.
