I really enjoyed being the MYT Programme Lead for this Inclusive Futures side event at the UN Conference of States Parties to the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (COSP) which is one of the largest and most important global forums on disability issues.

The webinar discussed opportunities for disability inclusive recovery of the labour market through public procurement, with a particular focus on the implementation of the Kenya Access to Government Procurement Initiatives (AGPO).   The AGPO programme aims to facilitate businesses/enterprises owned by women, youth and people with disabilities to access public procurement opportunities but feedback from persons with disabilities shows that this initiative is not meeting its full potential for implementation of this quota.  The side event shared programme learnings and experience directly from persons with disabilities and private sector employers to discuss the opportunities for harnessing public procurement channels to drive inclusive economic recovery, using the AGPO programme as a potential model for other countries to learn from, to ensure that we build back better globally.

Sign Interpretation and Closed Captions were used to ensure the webinar was accessible and it was wonderful to hear so many experiences and different voices as part of the MYT / Sightsavers Events Team.
